QUEEN’S PARK — With the provincial budget to be tabled tomorrow, MPP Schreiner and MPP Clancy are calling on the government to deliver affordability relief for everyday Ontarians with focused investments in housing, climate and strong public services.
“For ordinary Ontarians, life is more expensive than ever under this government,” said Mike Schreiner.
“From soaring rents to gouging at the grocery store, the cost of basic essentials is pinching everyday people hard.”
“Instead of investing in the millions of Ontarians struggling to pay the bills, the Ford government would rather help out well-connected insiders,” said Aislinn Clancy.
“Whether it’s using taxpayer dollars to prop up multi-billion-dollar revenues for fossil fuel giants, or pouring billions into super-polluting highways, or saying no to homes ordinary people can afford, Ontarians have had enough of this government’s misplaced priorities.”
Ahead of the provincial budget, we are calling for investments in three key areas to deliver affordability relief for everyday Ontarians:
- Build homes people can afford in communities they love by investing in affordable housing, legalizing gentle density and strengthening protections for renters;
- Fund a climate affordability plan that slashes emissions while putting money back in people’s pockets through savings on household energy, transportation and transit; and
- Repair the public services that Ontarians rely on daily by investing in our underfunded healthcare, education and childcare systems and ending legislated poverty.
