QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner, MPP for Guelph, released the following statement about the Ontario Autism Coalition Rally at Queen’s Park:
“After throwing everyone into chaos with a broken one-size-fits-all plan, the Government has done nothing but move the goalposts and make excuses.
The Premier promised parents point blank they would no longer need to protest, but parents have had to spend the last year doing exactly that.
Every day this government delays implementing a needs-based plan means more job losses for service providers and more anxiety for families of children with autism.
Children cannot wait until 2021 and parents are right to doubt they will ever see funding because the Ford government breaks its word time and time again.
And I am very troubled to hear that the Minister’s office has gone completely dark and cut off communications with families in December.
The Social Services Minister must stop delaying solutions and start delivering the needs-based funding that families deserved from the beginning.”
