QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released this statement after the Government announced its economic recovery bill:
“Protecting forests, farmland and drinking water is not red tape.
The Premier wants us to believe that we need to destroy the places we love to get the economy moving. He’s wrong.
Caring for nature, farmland and water is a vital part of the economic recovery, not something we sacrifice.
The Premier has proven over the past two years that his priority is not the people and places we love in Ontario. From canceling climate action to bulldozing habitat, the Premier’s policies threaten the legacy we leave our children and grandchildren.
I support better regulations to build affordable housing and transit faster and smarter.
But we can do this without giving a free pass to polluters or giving away farmland to land speculators.”
