QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement about Guelph elementary teachers from the Upper Grand District School Board striking outside his office:
“I thank the hundreds of educators, parents, students and allies who took strike action outside of my constituency office today.
They have my full support in rejecting the government plan to drain resources from classrooms.
They sent a clear message to the Education Minister that the government’s position is reckless and unacceptable.
Pulling thousands of workers out of schools will do serious harm to our public education system, hurting vulnerable students the most.
The path to a fair deal runs through a reversal of the cuts that increase class sizes.”
