QUEEN’S PARK — MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner made the following statement regarding the release of the 2024 Provincial Budget.
“Presented with the opportunity to deliver real relief to the millions of Ontarians facing a cost of living crisis, the government has responded with a resounding no.
No to building deeply affordable non-profit and supportive housing.
No to increasing housing supply by legalizing gentle density.
No to a climate affordability plan that cuts climate pollution while putting money back in people’s pockets through savings on household energy.
And no to repairing our crumbling public services or delivering supports for Ontario’s most vulnerable by ending legislative poverty.
This budget of no leaves far too many people behind.
I will continue to fight for a provincial government that says yes to affordability relief for everyday Ontarians through focused investments in housing, climate and strong public services.
