GUELPH — MPP Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to news that the government has no commitment to a timeline for the construction of Highway 413.
“You’d think that a government that brags about starting Highway 413 construction next year would have a sense of how long it’s going to take and how much it will cost to get it built.
But as we’ve seen time and time again, planning ahead is not this government’s strong suit.
Make no mistake: Highway 413 is a financial disaster and an environmental wrecking ball that’s going to pave over our Greenbelt just to save commuters 30 seconds – costing taxpayers at least $10 billion.
It’s a scheme designed to benefit wealthy land speculators, not Ontarians. We’ll keep fighting to stop Highway 413 and put forward real transportation solutions that protect our farms, forests and wetlands from costly sprawl.”
