QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement on the one-day strike by Ontario high school teachers:
“Teachers are standing firm against the long-term damage the Premier wants to inflict on our education system.
If the government wants to de-escalate the situation, then it must take education cuts off the table. Increasing class sizes and mandatory e-learning are non-starters.
Our children’s future is on the line in these negotiations.
One side wants to pull adults out of schools and the other is defending responsible class sizes.
The Education Minister must listen to teachers rather than asking them to sign off on his cuts.”
