QUEEN’S PARK — In a debate for Bill 40 MPP Mike Schreiner called out the government for driving up energy prices.
“This month, electricity prices surged by 29 per cent because of the government’s hostility to low-cost, reliable renewable energy.
To bring down costs for everyone, we need to expand and update Ontario’s electricity grid. The cheapest, fastest way to do that is to invest in made-in-Ontario wind, solar and energy storage solutions.
Instead, the government is ramping up dirty, expensive gas plants.
Before this government took office, Ontario’s clean grid was our competitive advantage. Now, as global investment in clean energy hits $2.2 trillion, the Premier is dragging us backwards.
The solution is clear: invest in clean, affordable renewable energy to lower costs for everyone, create jobs, and secure our energy future. Now we just need a government that will deliver on it.”
