QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after the Premier’s press conference:
“I’m glad the Premier has finally awoken to the chaos at testing centres, where families are being turned away at the crack of dawn.
But we wouldn’t be in this dangerous position if the Ford government had planned for a second wave during the summer.
It should not have taken mile-long testing lineups to force the government’s hand.
Our testing capacity should have been expanded weeks ago, not weeks from now.
The Premier has failed to stay ahead of the virus, ignoring the recommendations of health experts to limit class sizes and ramp up testing.
This last-minute funding is welcome, but it does not make up for weeks of inaction that could have kept the lid on a second wave.”
