  • Repairing the current Science Centre is the lowest-cost option. So what’s the Premier’s excuse?

TORONTO — MPP Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to an analysis showing that the government’s estimated cost to demolish and temporarily relocate the Ontario Science Centre is significantly higher than the cost to complete priority repairs.

“The Premier is out of excuses for his dodgy Science Centre relocation scheme, and he knows it.

His government’s own numbers show that the cost to raze and relocate the historic cultural hub is significantly higher than the cost to complete priority roof repairs.

He’s trying to deliberately mislead Ontarians to make his megaspa pet project look better, and we aren’t buying it. It’s not fair for the Premier to put wealthy insiders before the people of Ontario.

We are fighting for the Science Centre to be repaired and reopened so it can continue to provide jobs, programming and lifelong memories for people across Ontario – now and in the future.”
