QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after the province announced scholarships in honour of the victims of the Iran plane crash:
“This horrific tragedy has devastated the Iranian-Canadian community, our academic institutions, and the country as a whole.
It is essential that we find ways to honour the victims and keep their memories alive. It’s heartbreaking to lose so many bright thinkers and leaders in our communities.
These scholarships will ensure that the positive impact they were making on our post-secondary institutions will always be remembered.
I thank both the Prime Minister and Premier for doing everything they can to support families in their need for closure, comfort, and answers.”
