QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after an outbreak was declared at Guelph’s Homewood Health Centre.
“I am so sorry to hear that there has been an outbreak of Covid-19 at Homewood Health Centre, but I am relieved that those affected are safe at home in self-isolation.
Health care workers are risking their lives every day when they go to work during this pandemic and I am in awe of their dedication.
The rise in outbreaks at Guelph facilities and across the province underscores the urgency for getting PPE into the hands of health care workers urgently.
That is why I wrote to the Premier yesterday asking him to take stronger action, including redirecting commercial supplies and prioritizing long-term care homes.
We must do everything possible to prevent COVID-19 from entering our health care facilities in the first place.”
