QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after the Premier promised to enact tough measures against price gouging:
“Any business that is profiteering off this pandemic should be ashamed of themselves.
I support the province enacting measures to stop companies from jacking up the prices of goods that are in short supply, including hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes.
No business should be exploiting the vulnerability of people who are simply trying to protect themselves and prevent the spread of COVID-19.
While we must discourage price gouging, we must also discourage people from hoarding or stockpiling goods that everyone needs access to.”
