  • Supporting small business means better mental healthcare

QUEEN’S PARK — MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to a new report from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce addressing the lingering mental health impacts of the Covid pandemic and their effect on small- and medium-sized businesses.

“The lingering effects“The lingering effects of the Covid pandemic are still being felt in communities across Ontario. This is especially true when it comes to our small and medium-sized businesses, who are still in the grips of post-pandemic recovery.

This new report from the Ontario Chamber of Commerce does the important work of connecting the dots between mental health access, community resilience and a strong small business sector.

We need to be doing much more to ensure that our workers, our businesses and our communities are equipped with the tools they need to navigate the mental health challenges the people of our province are facing.

I echo the OCC calls to support communities and businesses with improved access to mental health resources.

We have a plan to make mental health care more affordable, accessible and comprehensive.

It starts with expanding access to mental health and addiction care under OHIP – because no one should be priced out of getting the care they need.”
