QUEEN’S PARK — MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to Ontario Ombudsman Paul Dubé’s Lost in Transition report.
“It is unacceptable that so many adults with complex developmental disabilities have been forced to suffer in hospitals ill-equipped to meet their needs.
This government must take immediate action to fulfill the recommendations of the Ombudsman, and restore dignity and quality of life to those that are not receiving the support they need and deserve.
Far too many families are struggling to care for loved ones. They desperately need a government that cares.
It’s time for this government to make meaningful investments in public health and social services so that all Ontarians are able to receive appropriate care in their communities.”
