QUEEN’S PARK — Guelph MPP Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to a recent report on the nations leading the global energy transition:
“This government is following the Trump playbook, doubling down on fossil energy while nations in Asia and the EU lead the energy transition and secure massive global investments.
Ontario is falling behind, and yet, the government continues to pour taxpayer dollars into expensive and outdated oil and gas technology.
In the midst of a jobs crisis, we should be taking advantage of every opportunity to create good-paying, generational jobs right now, using Ontario steel to build locally produced low-cost renewable energy.
But the government insists on keeping Ontario stuck in the past, sacrificing jobs along the way.
We need bold action now before we miss our chance to take a piece of the $8 trillion global green economy with investment of $2.2 Trillion this year alone.”
