QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement regarding the lack of clarity for small business reopening:
“The Premier’s unclear reopening plan is causing more chaos and confusion for small business owners.
Instead of teasing an early reopening, the Premier needs to provide a transparent plan so small businesses can properly prepare.
In April, the Premier’s flip-flopping and lack of a clear plan cost restaurants in Ontario $100 million. We can’t have the same happen again.
Small businesses are already hanging on by a thread. They’ve been hit so hard during the pandemic, and have not gotten the help they need from the government. We can’t afford for more small businesses to go under.
I’m calling on the government to:
- Provide a clear plan with advanced notice for small business reopening
- Expand eligibility for the Small Business Support Grant
- Provide a third round of funding from the Small Business Support Grant”
