QUEEN’S PARK – MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement responding to Premier Ford’s support of the federal plan to open up Pearson Airport to privatization, and his invitation that the Prime Minister do the same at Billy Bishop.
“In the midst of an unprecedented trade war and affordability crisis, Ontario needs investments that work for everyday people by creating jobs from new developments, not line the pockets of the rich by selling off public goods.
Privatizing Ontario airports will line the pockets of rich investors while making air travel even more expensive and doing nothing to create good jobs for Ontarians.
Ontarians deserve a government that will fight for them.
Premier Ford should be looking for opportunities that will create good, generational jobs in Ontario–not looking for new ways to sell off our public infrastructure.
The government’s priorities are completely out of touch with everyday people. People are struggling to make rent, afford groceries or put money aside for the future. We are calling on this government to get its priorities straight and put people first.”
