TORONTO — MPP Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to news that British Columbia is implementing a vaccine certificate:
“Throughout this public health crisis, the government has been slow to act despite having ample advice available to them from scientists and public health experts.
The second and third most populous provinces, Quebec and British Columbia, are moving forward with vaccine certificates.
Why is the Premier holding Ontario back?
The Premier needs to stop dragging his feet, do the right thing and implement a vaccine certificate that is secure and accessible.
Ontario should be a leader in Canada, not a laggard.
And I fear the Premier’s inaction will make the fourth wave far worse than it would have been had he actually listened to the science and public health experts.
It’s time to implement a vaccine certificate system to protect the highest-risk Ontarians and help keep small businesses open.”
