QUEEN’S PARK – MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the Financial Accountability Office’s Spending Plan Reviews for the Health Sector, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security, and Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.
“The government just keeps cutting funding to the services people need most.
Under this government, the budgets for essential services keep getting stretched thinner and thinner, and we all feel the harm.
We feel it in the form of longer wait times at the ER, fewer kids who can afford to go to college or university, fewer long-term care beds for the people that need them and even less support for people forced to live in legislative poverty on OW and ODSP.
It’s time for this government to get its priorities straight and prioritize affordability for everyday people over profits for rich investors.
I will continue to fight for real investment in the services we all rely on, including healthcare, long-term care, education, affordable homes and doubling ODSP and OW rates.”
