GUELPH – MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the Ontario Medical Association’s recent survey results demonstrating ER overcrowding and decreased patient confidence.
“Ontario’s healthcare system is at a breaking point.
Because of this government’s chronic underfunding, Ontarians have lost confidence in what was once a world-class public healthcare system.
Our ERs are overcrowded, wait times are through the roof and healthcare workers have been pushed to their limits.
Funding shortfalls are expected to hit a shocking $10.7 billion in 2027-8, and yet this government continues to waste taxpayer dollars on a tunnel nobody asked for and an airport expansion nobody wants.
Ontarians care for each other. It’s time for this government to care for them too.
I call on the government to get their priorities straight and step up with real investments in public healthcare now to rebuild systems of care that people can count on.”
