QUEEN’S PARK — Green Party of Ontario leader Mike Schreiner made the following statement about the ongoing Charles McVety scandal:
“It is disgusting that this is on the Premier’s pandemic recovery list.
This is the most blatant example of political back-scratching in the Premier’s tenure – made all the more shocking since it’s in the middle of a global pandemic.
The Government has to answer for why they are supporting Charles McVety’s brand of hate against the LGTBQ+ community, Muslim community and climate action.
McVety is so out of the Christian mainstream that even a faith-based television station booted him for his hateful beliefs.
In no way should a college that has promoted Islamophobia and denied evolution be put on the same playing field as legitimate universities.
There is nothing wrong with Canada Christian College granting degrees in theology or religious education.
But in no way should they be treated as a credible authority in other subjects.
Ontario should not be awarding science degrees in climate denial and arts degrees in homophobia.”
