QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after pharmacies reported shortages of the flu vaccine:
“Whether it’s getting money to hospitals or getting flu vaccines to pharmacies, the Government just cannot get it right the first time.
Vaccinating people against the seasonal flu ensures that more public health resources and hospital capacity can be spared for COVID-19.
It is disappointing that the government is already falling short on the first pillar of its fall preparedness plan.
It is very frustrating for people who are doing everything they can to stay healthy and follow public health guidance.
I encourage the province to work with Ottawa on an immediate solution and to prioritize flu vaccines for the most vulnerable until an adequate supply is secured.”
