QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after the federal government and province announced funding for Digital Main Street:
“I want to thank the federal and provincial governments for listening and making a smart investment in local, independent businesses by expanding Digital Main Street.
This program has proven itself invaluable during the pandemic and pre-pandemic to help small businesses stay competitive as more services and customer interactions move online.
I wrote a letter to the Premier in support of funding for Digital Main Street on June 3. While this is a positive announcement, I had hoped for a higher provincial contribution to support more businesses.
We should be doing everything we can to help small, local, independent businesses adapt so that it is not just big multinational corporations that have a future beyond COVID-19.”
