  • The government failing on Ontario Autism Program

QUEEN’S PARK — MPP for Kitchener Centre Aislinn Clancy released the following statement in response to news that only 20 per cent of children registered for the Ontario Autism Program received funding for core therapy by the end of 2023.

“Over and over again, the government has failed Ontario families.

Under this government, children with autism are waiting for years to receive essential therapies while the waitlist for core services only gets longer.

Families cannot continue to wait for the services their kids need now. They deserve a rapidly available needs-based autism program that serves all children regardless of age.

This government’s claims about a ‘world-leading program’ are completely out of touch with the bleak reality that so many families are facing.

We call on the government to invest in our kids’ future through meaningful, long-term investment in the Ontario Autism Program informed by the solutions already proposed by the Ontario Autism Coalition.”
