Mike Schreiner made the following statement in response to the government’s new critical mineral strategy:
“Today’s government announcement on a critical mineral strategy and made-in-Ontario electric vehicle (EV) supply chain is welcome news but should have come years ago. It’s another win, and something I have championed for years.
But the Premier’s hostility to renewable energy and refusal to make EVs more affordable undermines his late game plan to finally recognize the importance of critical minerals and EV manufacturing.
The Premier has Ontario playing catch up, instead of leading.
Scrapping renewable energy plants in favour of expensive, climate-polluting gas plants and rejecting incentives for EVs is not the way to make Ontario a giant of the new climate economy.”
