QUEEN’S PARK – In question period today, MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner sparred with the Premier, demanding he reverse the OSAP cuts that will hurt low- and middle-income students the most.
“While the Premier talks about spending billions on a tunnel, an island and an airport in the GTA, people across the province are telling me that they’re tired. Tired of working so hard to make ends meet while the wealthy and well-connected get richer.
And now the Premier is piling more debt onto students and families by cutting OSAP. These cuts will hurt low and middle-income students and families the most. Cuts like this are why the rich are getting richer while everyone else is out of luck.
This government is completely out of touch with the students struggling to pay rent or afford groceries. Young people have been completely abandoned by this government.
I call on the Premier to stop putting vanity projects in downtown Toronto ahead of our kids’ future and reverse his cuts to OSAP.”
