QUEEN’S PARK – MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the Ford government’s 2025-26 audited public accounts.
“The government can spin the numbers and blame the feds all they want, but the numbers don’t lie: Ontario is staring down a $13 billion deficit and this government has nothing to show for it.
Unemployment has hit record highs, the cost of living is skyrocketing and public services are starving.
From farmers to teachers to small businesses, everyone is trying to get by with less.
This government is spending more than ever to deliver less and it’s everyday Ontarians who are paying the price.
Instead of spending on the things that really matter to Ontarians, this government is doing favours for their highest donors–paid for by the people of Ontario.
It’s time for the government to invest in affordable homes, public healthcare, better education for our kids and creating good, green jobs to help people build a better future.
