QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released this statement after the Ford government passed Bill 175:
“This bill does more harm than good for people requiring home and community care.
The Conservatives are repeating the same mistakes in home and community care that put our elders at risk in nursing homes during COVID-19.
I was hoping for a bold strategy to hire more RNs and PSWs to deliver a guaranteed level of care with clear oversight.
But instead, the Government is making the system murkier and less trustworthy by allowing service providers to police themselves and opening the door to more privatization.
It’s a recipe for a lower quality of care for people in need.”
