GUELPH — MPP Mike Schreiner released the following statement in solidarity with Ontario workers fighting back against the government’s appeal of Bill 124.
“Bill 124 devalues and disrespects frontline workers. The consequences are plain to see: a healthcare system in crisis.
Since Bill 124 was introduced, public-sector workers have faced unfair wage caps and limits on their right to collective bargaining.
All while the cost of living skyrockets and our healthcare system continues to crumble.
It’s long past time for the Premier to do the right thing – for Ontario’s workers, and for all of us who rely on their essential services.
Today, instead of accepting an earlier ruling that Bill 124 is unconstitutional, the government continues to waste our money on a costly and unnecessary appeal in a last-ditch attempt to avoid paying fair wages to workers.
It’s time to end this petty campaign against the people who care for us.
Today, and always, I stand with the workers calling for the government to drop their appeal and take real action to ensure that public-sector workers have fair wages, benefits and working conditions.”
