GUELPH — MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
“Today, we commemorate the six million Jewish lives lost during the Holocaust and honour the strength and resilience of survivors and their families.
As we pay remembrance, it’s crucial that we also take the opportunity to learn from this most horrific human tragedy.
We must reaffirm our commitment to combatting anti-semitism in all its forms, and to building a province – and a world – that embraces freedom, justice and diversity.
To ensuring that such brutal acts of violence, hatred and genocide can never happen again.
It is vital that we teach present and future generations about the horrors of the Holocaust, and clearly denounce efforts to minimize or deny its horrors and their ramifications.
I am committed to building an Ontario rooted in tolerance, inclusivity and celebration of diversity. We reaffirm our efforts to eradicate anti-semitism and all forms of hate.
Never again.”
