QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after emergency measures were enacted for Ontario’s long-term care homes to combat COVID-19:
“Restricting visits could take a heavy emotional toll on our elders in care.
But these measures are necessary to protect those at greatest risk from COVID-19.
I urge family members to stay in close contact with their loved ones over phone and video to maintain a connection that means so much to our elderly population.
I hope that long-term care facilities can devote some extra attention to helping residents use technology to stay connected with their family members during this time, while ensuring the safety of front line workers.”
