  • FAO: The government underspending on vital public services

QUEEN’S PARK — MPP Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the release of the FAO’s Economic and Budget Outlook report for the 2023-24 to 2028-29 period.

“While everyday Ontarians are struggling to get by, the government continues to underspend on the public services we all rely on daily.

Today’s Economic and Budget Outlook report forecasts government spending shortfalls in almost every sector – healthcare, education and postsecondary, justice and social services.

Meanwhile, our hospitals are in crisis, teachers are sounding the alarm about rising incidents of classroom violence, and jails are overflowing with people waiting for a trial date that never comes.

The people of our province cannot afford to keep waiting for real investments in housing, healthcare and climate action.”
