TORONTO — Mike Schreiner released the following statement regarding Premier Ford’s attempted silencing of Dr. Fallis:
“Attacking doctors and threatening healthcare funding in response to constructive criticism will not solve the Covid crisis.
Healthcare workers have been on the frontlines since the start of the pandemic. Their opinions matter. Day after day they are seeing the impacts of the virus firsthand.
So when these workers voice their concerns over the Ford government’s pandemic response, they should be heard and not silenced.
The idea that hospitals might fear retaliation for criticism of the Government is extremely concerning and cannot go unaddressed.
The Premier needs to come out and publicly address this issue. He needs to stand behind the freedom of expression and free speech and assure hospitals that they will not be penalized for it.”
