  • If there’s nothing to hide, why can’t we see it?

TORONTO — Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to reports that the Premier’s government has refused to respond to freedom of information requests about how certain parcels of Greenbelt land were selected for development.

“The Premier and his housing minister have repeatedly insisted that there is nothing suspect about their process to select which parcels of Greenbelt land to open for development last fall.

If that’s the case, then why are they refusing to respond to freedom of information requests that would shed light on how these parcels were chosen?

The people of Ontario have so many unanswered questions about how certain Premier government-linked land speculators knew to buy the parcels in question and now stand to make billions.

If there’s nothing to hide, then why the secrecy?

There are mountains of evidence showing that more sprawl will not solve the housing crisis.

We don’t need to destroy the places we love to build the houses we need.

The people of Ontario deserve to know the truth.”
