QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the Premier’s re-announcement of his climate denial position:
“I’m calling on the Premier to stop wasting your tax dollars sabotaging climate solutions.
The Ford government cannot find money to support children with autism, but it can find money for a politically motivated campaign against solutions to the climate crisis.
We need to call this out for what it is: the new front of climate denial that defies everything experts, scientists, economists and business leaders are telling us.
It’s long past time for us to be debating the need for climate action. Yet, the Premier continues to appeal to conspiracy theories that climate solutions will hurt our economy.
Just yesterday the Pembina Institute released yet another report showing that pricing pollution will not hurt economic growth, job creation or competitiveness. This echoes what economists, scientists, business leaders and Nobel Prize winners are saying.
This is a fight for survival and everyone needs to do their part, but the Premier is determined to play politics with the future of our children and grandchildren.
The people of Ontario deserve better.
Our children deserve a Premier who will not try to score political points with their future.
