  • Schreiner tables motion to use vacant land to build more homes

QUEEN’S PARK — MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner has tabled a motion calling on the government to implement a plan to effectively utilize available vacant land to increase the supply of affordable homes within existing boundaries.

“Time and time again, the government has failed to put forward any serious solutions to increase Ontario’s housing supply without sprawling onto our farms, forests and wetlands,” said Schreiner.

“By building more kinds of homes on under-utilized land in existing neighbourhoods, we can create more choices, more ownership opportunities and more vibrant communities to live, work and play.

“I have an ambitious plan to legalize more kinds of housing in the communities we already spend our time in.

“I hope the government will take this opportunity to restore hope to an entire generation of young people who have given up on home ownership by supporting this motion.”
