QUEEN’S PARK — Green Party of Ontario Leader, Mike Schreiner, issued the following statement in response to reports from the Ontario Autism Coalition:
“Parents should not be pushed onto new wait lists and services for autistic children should not be delayed due to a conflict of interest in funding for autism.
The Ontario Autism Coalition is raising alarming concerns with the way funding is delivered through the Ontario Autism Program (OAP). The primary objective of the OAP must be to provide children and families with access to the best possible programs for their children, as quickly as possible.
I support the Coalition’s call for an investigation to ensure there is no conflict of interest in the funding delivery of either Direct Funding or Direct Service options.”
