  • The government’s playing political games while housing, healthcare crises worsen

GUELPH — MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to news that the Ford government will pass legislation to block future provincial governments from implementing a price on pollution.

“Let’s call this what it is – a new round of performative political games from a government desperate to distract from Doug Ford’s failures on housing, healthcare and everything in between.

For five years, the Premier has allowed Ontario’s housing, healthcare and education crises to spiral out of control while spending taxpayer dollars on backroom deals for well-connected insiders.

The results are all around us: record-breaking ER wait times, sky-high housing costs and a postsecondary education sector in crisis mode. Meanwhile, the list of Ford flip flops gets longer every day.

Instead of taking political pot shots, why doesn’t this government try tackling any of the problems Ontarians are facing right now?”
