QUEEN’S PARK — MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement marking Transgender Day of Remembrance.
“Today, on Transgender Day of Remembrance, I honour the Trans people across our province who have tragically lost their lives to violence and systemic oppression.
People who lost their lives simply for being who they are.
I urge all Ontarians to join me in reflecting on how we can work together to combat the alarming rise of transphobia and anti-Trans violence in our communities.
Today and every day, let’s commit ourselves to opposing oppression and standing with the Trans community in the journey toward safety, justice and equality.”
