QUEEN’S PARK – MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to news that the Ford government has awarded a contract to build the parking garage at Ontario Place:
“This government is wasting almost $200 million of taxpayer money on a parking garage at Ontario Place while everyday Ontarians are struggling just to get by.
We keep seeing more of the same from this government – money spent on pet projects in downtown Toronto that only benefit the rich and powerful.
Just like Billy Bishop, everything about the Ontario Place redevelopment scheme is meant to put insider profits before everyday people. This government is putting Ontario up for sale, and we’re the ones getting ripped off.
We will keep fighting tooth and nail not only to protect Ontario’s waterfront, but also for every community across the province that feels forgotten.”
