  • Autism services continue to be underfunded, says Schreiner

QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after the FAO revealed that the $600 million autism program will leave 23,000 children on a waitlist:

“The Government refuses to have an honest conversation about the huge flaws in its autism program, preferring to kick the problem down the road to 2021.

First they tried to clear the waitlist by depriving families of needs-based funding, showing a complete misunderstanding of how autism affects children differently.

And now their promise to fix the problems in 2021 will still leave 23,000 children without access to life-changing autism therapy.

The truth is we need more funding for autism services than the Premier is willing to put up, which will leave families with no option but to continue their protests at Queen’s Park.”
