TORONTO — Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to John Tory’s press conference regarding the planned protests at hospitals:
“The Premier needs to urgently work with municipalities to protect hospitals from angry protestors.
Municipalities are clear that they’re open to working with the province to keep patients and health-care workers safe and maintain hospital access.
It’s now on the Premier to step up, respond and take action.
Instead of doing his job after announcing vaccine certificates, the Premier prorogued the legislature and went into hiding. Hospitals are not responsible for government decisions and so should not be the place for protests.
I’m calling on the Premier to do the right thing and stand up for the health-care workers that have done so much for Ontario.”
